Blue Flag International

National Operator Meeting 2007

The annual National Operator meeting was held in Toronto, Canada on October 12-13, hosted by the Canadian FEE member organisation Environmental Defence Canada.

Most of the national operators as well as three of the international sponsors took part in the meeting and used the opportunity to share thoughts and ideas.

Discussions were held, among others, about possible changes in the Blue Flag Marina criteria for 2009-2013, and about changes in the Blue Flag Beach Criteria regarding Bathing Water Quality.

Also, three break-out groups took place which focused on the following topics:

- Control visits system
- Beach cleanliness method in Blue Flag
- Individual Blue Flag for boat owners

Furthermore, a number of presentations were given by external experts, national operators and sponsors regarding a variety of prevailing issues such as information boards, maps, cleanliness and control visits.

It was decided to set up two working groups. One of the groups should develop guidelines for maps and information boards. The other working group will be looking at Blue Flag’s Plan of Action which needs to be finalised by June 2009.
