Situated at the opening to one of Bournemouth's famous Chines, this beach features a good range of facilities including beach chalets which are available to hire on a daily or weekly basis. Deck chairs, sunbeds, parasols, windbreaks and beach accessible wheelchairs are also available for hire. A regular land train service connects the Chine with Bournemouth & Boscombe piers to the east. A Treasure Island themed children’s play area takes it’s inspiration from author R L Stevenson who lived and wrote in a house in the Chine. A free to use paddling pool is very popular with children. The cliffs feature a Green Flag award winning sub-tropical garden which provides an oasis of tranquillity. The beach is gently sloping and sandy with no sudden shelving or rip currents, providing safe bathing. The beach is lifeguarded by the RNLI from May to September. Guided walk leaflets are available from Alum Chine beach office. The beach also features ice-cream vendor, snack shop and an excellent Italian Restaurant. A dog exercise area of the beach is provided May to September. Free LV= Kidzone children’s safety wristbands are available from the beach office.
