
Lisfannon, Beach located in Border
This is a sandy beach on the shores of Lough Swilly. The area is a Natural Heritage Area and a key wetlands site for birds. Fahan Wood within 1km of the beach is classfied as being of Regional
Importance, noted for Oak, Hazel and Rowan.
Lisfannon is a major recreational beach for locals and particularly for day-trippers from Derry City
in Northern Island. The beach is lifeguarded from June 22-August 30, seven days per week from 12.30hrs to 19.00hrs.
You can get to Lisfannon beach by taking the R 238 south from the town of Buncrana.
