The producer of Corona Extra beer in Mexico, Grupo Modelo, is amplifying its CSR programme in Europe through a new social and ecological initiative called “Corona Save the Beach”. It is dedicated to beach conservation and education for the preservation of beaches. The project rests on encouraging support from beach loving people to help clean beaches around the world, as voted by the general public. Corona Extra will dedicate all funds raised towards this campaign and is currently investigating a variety of additional initiatives to assist this project. Corona’s aim is to recover (ensure the clean-up of) one beach per year.
Grupo Modelo/Corona Extra is an important partner for the Blue Flag Programme in the “Corona Save the Beach” initiative where the company besides a sponsorship contribution cooperates with the Blue Flag Programme on improving the beach environment and increasing the environmental awareness among the beach users.

BeachTech is a division of the company Kässbohrer Geländefahrzeug AG (producer of the famous Pistenbully, snow grooming machines), which specializes in the production of beach cleaning equipment. BeachTech’s business is based on the idea that quality tourism is linked to the cleanliness of the beaches, and in popular areas advanced cleaning methods are necessary.
We are very happy to have BeachTech as a sponsor for the Blue Flag Programme. They will give support through donations and expertise on finding methods for determining the level of cleanliness of beaches.

Shipmate is a sponsor and the flag producer currently used by the Blue Flag Programme. The flags are produced complying with the EU label of textiles. The flags are marked with the year of award. By the end of the season the flags are send to the nearest recycling centre to be recycled.
