BeachTech recommends using ecologically operating fluids

(10.2.2012)

In all aspects of our lives, protecting the environment has become one of the primary goals. Naturally, the same goes for us in BeachTech.

In Western Europe alone, approximately 6 million tons of operating fluids are burned up every year. 1.5 million tons of these end up in the countryside, be it from evaporation, combustion or leaks. The advantage of bio petroleum becomes evident if you consider the traditional oils: just a few liters of any customary mineral hydraulic oil spilled into a lake may destroy its complete flora and fauna as even a minor amount makes all living organisms suffocate. So it is obvious how very significantly the use of bio-degradable operating fluids contributes to the protection of our environment.

Important for a sound environment: bio-degradable lubricants in environmentally sensitive areas like beaches

In theory, ecologically compatible oils can be used in all ranges of application for lubricants and replace other products that are based on crude oil. Depending on their composition, they are equal in their characteristics. Their prime benefit compared to mineral oils is that they can be used in environmentally sensitive areas. Other advantages are their superior lubricating characteristics and a better viscosity index compared to mineral oils, also lasting for a longer period of time, energy savings and a lesser need for maintenance and service. So a longer lifetime of bio-degradable oils, although a bit pricier when investing, will still reduce the total long term costs.

According to a European Union directive (2005/360/CE) about using ecologically compatible lubricants in sensitive natural environments, we offer as an option to supply our PistenBully and BeachTech machines in France, and if desired in other countries as well, with bio-degradable lubricants. For the protection of waters, all kinds of equipments must be designed and operated in a way that no agents hazardous to water can contaminate or otherwise induce harmful changes to waters.

We recommend having a new beach cleaning machine equipped with bio oil right from the start with the initial order, but it is also possible to change to bio oil later on. This however must be done by an authorized Kässbohrer service partner, using the special recommended alternative lubricants.

For a perfect oil change, the old oil must be completely drained from the whole system and the oil tank must be cleaned. After two or three rinsing procedures with the new bio oil, the whole system is de-aerated and filled with the alternative oil. The oil change is completed after the oil filter has also been changed.
