The International Blue Flag coordinator took the opportunity during her holidays to meet with the Colombian Ministry of Tourism to discuss joining FEE and implementing the Blue Flag programme.
On 23 January 2012, Sophie Bachet met with representants of the Colombian Ministry of Tourism in Bogota to continue the discussions which had already taken place by email and skype through the International Coordination and Lourdes Diaz, FEE Vice-President.
Criteria were discussed, as well as pratical information to join FEE. Colombia is planning to send their application papers for the April FEE Executive Board. Once they are approved by the Executive Board, they will start working on implementing Blue Flag on some pilot sites.
The Blue Flag International Coordination is very happy to see real interest from South American countries, and looks forward working with them!
The Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) is a non-governmen, non-profit organisation promoting sustainable development through environmental education.
FEE is an international umbrella organisation with one national member organisation per country representing FEE on the national level and in charge of implementing FEE programmes nationally. FEE currently has 74 member organisations in 64 countries worldwide.
