Porthtowan, Beach located in Carrick District Council
Porthowan is a sandy beach flanked by steep cliffs on West Cornwall's North coast. This is a popular beach for surfers and families alike. The South West Coast path along the top of the cliffs north towards Chapel Porth makes a wonderful scenic walk. Care should be taken when walking on the beach to Chapel Porth, as the tides come in quickly and cover this stretch of coast completely - consult a tide table or the lifeguards before setting off.
