
Kavatzite, Beach located in Sozopol
The Kavatzite beach is a wonderful beach strip with a magnificent view southwards of the town of Sozopol, closed by the capes St. Christ and St. Agalina (Greek “Agia Lina” – St. Lina). The sand is fine and it gently slopes into the sea.
There is a camping site, named Kavatsite with many bungallows and a space for over 200 tents and around 60 caravans. Sport fans can rent water sport equipment.
The western part of the bay is protected from the dangerous north and northwestern winds by cape St. Christ and is calm even in the windiest days. That is the reason why it was used as a shelter-port for the ships sailing in the Black Sea. The bottom of the bay is still covered with stone, lead and iron anchors as well as whole and partial ceramic vessel from the prehistoric, antique and medieval ages. The wind has shaped sand dunes along the beach.
The reserve "Piasachna Lilia" (Sands Lily) where the plant of the same name grows, is located in the resort. It is a very rare plant can grow only in this area and can be seen on the sand dunes. All the attempts to adapt the sand lily to other parts of the
