Kiani, Beach located in NEA KALLIKRATEIA

The “Azure Beach” in the Nea Kallikratia town of the Kallikratia Municipality is the very first beach of  Chalkidhiki Prefecture in Northen Greece you meet as soon as you get out from Thessaloniki towards the Mount Athos Monasteries; it is a 800 meters long and 30 meters width sandy beach. Situated in the very center of the town, between the sea and the central public square, the beach has an urban character.

Near the beach and its surrounding area there are no sport facilities, Rent bikes or bicycles. There is only one Rent a car, branch of the Central Office in  Thessaloniki in the center of the town, besides the interurban bus stop.

From East to West end along the beach there are some hotels and Rent rooms, as well as restaurants, “tavernas”, coffee shops and bars. There is also an organised camping outside of N. Kallikratia to the NW of it.

The natural environment of the beach described above is a picturesque landscape with a pinewood on the so called “Azure Beach hill” (a hilly archeological site) and some other species of trees such as palm trees, etc, along the pedestrian road besides the beach. Generally, the natural environment of this district is similar to the neibourhing beaches of Chalkidhiki Prefecture. The environmental education facilities carried out by the Municipality Services and other local as well as regional Institutions are: Conferences, Lectures, Clean up, educational programs of the elementary and high school, programs of the Municipality’s Youth Council and its Volunteers’ Corps etc. The activities of this last one are under the National and Regional Regulations about protection from natural disasters.

How to get to the beach:

The visitors who wish to get to the “Azure Beach” may take the public bus of Chalkidhiki Interurban Lines for Nea Kallikratia either from Thessaloniki (KTEL, phone: +30.2310.924444 and .924445) or from Nea Moudhania (KTEL, phone: +30.23730.21228 and .25055). In approximately 25 or 35 minutes of time they arrive at Nea Kallikratia and can easily go on foot by a 5 minutes walk towards the beach. They may pass through the main pedestrian street and the shopping centre and they finally arrive at the seaside public park in front of the sea where are the Blue Flags and the Information Board.
