Porthtowan, Beach located in Carrick District Council
The beautiful Porthtown Beach is set within a magnificent bay flanked by steep cliffs on West Cornwall's north coast. This is a popular beach for surfers and families alike. A number of shops and pubs are located near the beach. The South West Coast Path along the top of the cliffs north towards Chapel Porth makes a wonderful scenic walk. Great care should be taken when walking on the beach to Chapel Porth, as the tides come in quickly and cover this stretch of coast completely - consult a tide table or the lifeguards before setting off.
