Measuring System for Beach Litter

The 'Measuring System for Beach Litter' was developed by the Hague-based Keep Holland Tidy Foundation and the Royal Dutch Touring Club. They published this brochure as an introduction to this system. It is recommended that Blue Flag beaches make use of this system to determine their cleanliness level. The very last page is a 'Beach Litter Indicator' which defines the different levels of cleanliness.

20 years of Blue Flag

A Blue Flag brochure, celebrating the 20 years with Blue Flag (1987-2007) has been produced. The brochure contains messages from our main partners UNEP and UNWTO, information about the 20 years with the Programme and the current distribution as well as case studies from five countries. Awards for Improving the Coastal Environment: The example of the Blue Flag

A manual has been produced in cooperation with UNEP and the UNWTO. This manual of 34 pages is very useful for new countries and participants in already existing programmes for describing the programme and the roles and responsibilities of the various people and groups involved. Production of the manual was partially funded through the Caribbean Tourism Organisation,  the Caribbean Regional Sustainable Tourism Development Programme and the EU.
